Story Time!

I work for my church, running the Sunday School program. Currently, we’ve been looking at the Fruit of the Spirit:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” – Galatians 5:22-23

On Sunday I thought it’d be fun to get my kids to write stories as part of memorizing this verse. This is one of the stories they came up with (I’ve corrected spelling and added punctuation):

“Once upon a time there was a little bunny. He hopped near a tree. He saw nine fruits on a high tree. He saw love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. The bunny ate love and he loved all his friends. Then he ate peace and he had peace all the time. Then so on, he ate joy, patience, kindness, self-control, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness. So he was all of them to his friends and family. The End!”

I just thought it was cute how they made it about a bunny eating the Fruit of the Spirit :)

  1. Thanks! It’s important indeed that kids know that a relationship with God is about His glory and for us it’s about a hope and a future, not struggling through life in spite of a world that’s against us. God made the world, it’s for us :)

  2. that is so great!
    we are what we eat
    and the kid gets it.
when are we adult taking it?
    keep on encouraging creativity
    while they’re young
    and haven’t yet meet negativity
    :)

  3. @qwandor that’s why he ate that one last I guess

@Suz yeah I have to constantly remember that some of the kids can’t read or write so activities have to be interesting for them too!

  4. What a cool idea! I wish the kids we worked with were old enough to write! lol

  5. So he ate all of the fruit on the tree? That hardly sounds like self-control.
