Saving :)

Because I work for my church, I can save money for church related activities pre-tax.

So I’m saving $60 a week towards my Philippines trip to the Shepherd’s Arms Orphanage and not paying any tax on it. Yay! Just thought I’d let you all know. More news on how things are going once I know, but it looks like flights into Asia are about to get cheaper thanks to Jet Star opening up services out of NZ :) I guess the Aussies had to do something right :P

Tax Refunds are useful things :D

So apparently the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) owe me $285 in taxes that I overpaid in the previous financial year! This is good news, that’s enough money to get me to Australia, then I just have to get from Australia to Malaysia and Malaysia to the Philippines :) And back again of course (though I may not want to leave :/ ) Then of course there’s the other expenses involved. It’s good to have a financial boost, I’m still saving my own money and making my fundraising plans. God is good, He gives me blessings I don’t deserve :)

I opened a savings account for my Phils trip the other day. On the internet!!! Didn’t even have to go down to the branch cause I’m already a customer with the bank so I can just open a savings account online. That’s pretty cool. I’m still buzzing on that one. It’s logical though. Saves the bank time and money if they don’t have to devote human resources to low risk products. Anyway…
